JUNE 3, 2017 ST. JOHN’S, NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADOR
ST. MARY’S CHURCH, CRAIGMILLAR AVENUE
FAITH in the PUBLIC SQUARE is a gathering of members of the Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and other faith communities along with community partners and representatives of municipal, provincial and federal levels of government, exploring the place of faith in society today and the ways in which faith is expressed outside of places of worship. Recognizing that most Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans identity with a faith community, we will investigate their impact on society, especially in areas of social concern.
Special guests, including the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson and Sister Elizabeth Davis, will be presenting to the gathering their views as to what has been the most important contribution of faith communities to society in days past, what their most important role is today, and where they see the future of faith in our society tomorrow.
They will also share some personal experiences of their faith journey and how they live their faith in the public square.
The conference will culminate with a panel discussion, of which those gathered, as well as those participating through social media, may ask questions and contribute to the discussion as to living faith in today’s public square.
Lunch will be provided and registration is free. Seating is limited and will be reserved as registrations are received.
We invite you to join us as we explore living faith in the public square.
